I saw the Social Network today and surprisingly I was disappointed. While the story line was good and the actors played their parts very well, I found myself to be bored through most of the movie. It jumped all over the place and back and forth. If it had just been the straight story line I think it would have been a lot more interesting. I thought everyone in the movie did a great job. I know it sounds funny-how can you say everyone did a great job but the movie was boring? Once you see it I think you will understand.
I think the most amazing thing was at the end they said Facebook's current value is 25 billion. All invented by 19 year old kids. Imagine that!
Debra, I understand that the actors could do a great job of boring you (LOL). FB is a truly amazing startup success.
Debra, I too, was disappointed about the movie after the way it had been so hyped up. I like watching the story and am amazed about how facebook become a way of life for us to connect to people, it's absolutely been incredible. But yeah, the actors were good, but the movie was hard to stay into.
I haven't seen the movie, but I applaud anyone that young who can change the world - and that he did!
Hey Debra,
I've seen the movie and thought it was pretty good. I think also, being in college around the time Facebook was up and coming, really allowed me to appreciate it more. college campuses were the first to be face to face with Facebook :) What was even more interesting, they way he treated people, but still managed to in a sense " take over the world".
I saw Social Network too. I also thought it jumped around a bit. The concept behind Facebook is amazing and the fact that it has become so successful is unbelievable. I just can't get over how poorly Zuckerberg treated everyone--especially his girlfriend who dumped him.
Good morning, Debra. I haven’t seen the movie yet (it’s next up in my NetFlix queue), but I appreciate your review. To be honest, I haven’t been all that interested in seeing it. (I’m setting my expectations low... in hope that it turns out better than I expect.) ;)
Hi Debra,
Thank you for the movie review!
Where did you get the buttons on the bottom of your blog. I like them!

I haven’t seen it yet but it is in our Blockbuster queue. Zuckerburg has pledged to give away half of his fortune, along with Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and others, but the caveat is that there is no time frame on when to give it away, so I guess they can give it away via their wills when they die.
I haven't seen it yet, but I will. Want to know the 'story' of these brilliant kids!
Debra - I have not seen the movie... but like most, have heard so much about it. I like reading your post and I won't have much expectations for it so I (hope) I wont be too disappointed when I get to see it.
Debra - AMEN!!! I too do not get all the hype about it and definitely didn't think it oscar worthy (thank God the academy didn't either).
Debra, I wondered how that was going to be. Now, I know I probably won't bother taking time to go see it. Thanks for the review.
Debra, that is truly amazing that anyone could build such a business in such a short time with so little start up capital!
By the way, what movie do you recommend since I did not see my one movie for the year in 2010? ^_~
I haven't seen it yet, and will wait for it to hit the TV. Thanks for providing your own view and not must more hype!
Debbie, I haven't seen it either...of course I'm always way behind in this department...usually wait for it to come out on DVD or Cable. I also think it amazing that 19 year olds achieved this...
Debbie - funny that you should post this because my husband and I were away for our anniversary and stayed in and watched a few movies. I paused every time I came across "The Social Network" and moved on. I'll wait to see in when it comes out on DVD, maybe. However, I did watch Secretariat and it was sensational - such a feel good movie!
I thought it was a good movie. It's an amazing story and I think they all did a great job in it. I agree with you, though, that it was a bit disappointing. I think the hype was hard to live up to.
Howdy and evening to you Debra
Debra, I was stopping by to check and see if there was any new blog posts posted by you. I sure do hope all is well with you!
Have a good one

I thought it was a great movie! I guess you didn’t like all the flashbacks, but that’s what I think really made it into a great movie, knowing that they were in court negotiations and then flashing back to show us how they got there.
Thank you for all the comments. I am sorry it took so long for me to get back here. It has been that type of year. I will be by to visit everyone's blogs!
