BACK TO THE BASICS THE TEN COMMANDMENTS DAY ONE

By
Real Estate Agent with Weichert Referral Associates

Those of you who have come to know me through my blogs know by now that i like to quote scripture as it relates to our everyday life. Well what can be more relevant than Gods ten commandments.Thetrouble as  se it is how many of us take the time to read the full version of the commandments as they are written in EXODUS as compared to the shortened bumper sticker version that we see ahnging on walls and religious decorations etc. I spent 10 years of my youth in parochial schools, was baptized was an altar boy was confirmed etc. etc. but never realized that the ten commandments took up half of a page of text nor truly took the time to understand them fully .

So I am going to list one commandment a day for the next ten days and try to go into it a little bit. I will be using the King James Version of the Bible.

1 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other Gods before me.

That seems pretty straight foward I only believe in one God, but when we put our desire for worldly things like money or career or fame or desires of the flesh first in our lives are we not are we not putting other Gods before him.I suggest that when we allow ANYTHING in our life to become more important to us than God we are putting other Gods before him.

Just something to think about

God Bless you

Hugh ~  Neat idea!  I must say, too, that in response to your most recent comment to one Mr. Harb, I would never expect to see you compromise.  You are a man of your convictions and that, sir, is to be admired!  Enjoy your day!

Hugh

God is an should be first as always. We follow his teachings in preparation for ever lasting peaceful eternity for when we are call to his supper. The worldly things such as housing, money, food and shelter need to be pursued so that we may continue to follow in his foot steps and preach the word of the gospel and also to help those in need.

If everyone did not pursue these things we would all be sitting around waiting to die. And that is not what God wants from us.

Hugh- I have been dealing with this topic as of late. This is a very relevant post, in that, we have to be careful that we don't put anything before God, not our spouses, our work, MONEY, or the pursuit of it. Thanks so much for a great post. God Bless!

It took me along time to realize that your struggles can also become gods if you do not give them to God to take care of for you and take on his yoke which is much lighter.

In all that we do, matter what it is there is an end result.  There is a way that SEEMS right but the END of it is death.  There is only ONE way.... this, your blog, points to it.  amen

Hugh, I do enjoy reading your post for they are very inspiring. In life we can develop many different gods. Anything we put before the one true God becomes our god. Thank you for reminding us of that.

Hugh-great post.  I ask myself questions on a regular basis.  With decisions, can I live with what I decide?  If I can I know it is a good choice.  The lord's hands are on me always, I think of him before I do anything.  he is with me and I am never alone!  If it's a struggle, its a struggle I need to go through but with him.  My faith is strong...My love for him stronger.  Thanks I needed to read this....and thanks for commenting on my post.

Derick - I believe that as long as we are aware that other things can become too important than we can deal with them . As long as we spend time with the Lord everyday than it is easier to stay focused on him.

Midori- Thank you I do read all of your posts and am usually taught something Itgs just that i can,t be one of those people who just remark with something worthless for the points. So for all the posts that I didn,t comment on thank you I think you are very knowledgeable and helpful.

It is a great idea for a post.  It is so important that we keep our eyes on Him.  Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added.  With all the things of the world that try to steal our attention we must continue to look unto Him the author and finisher of our faith. Thanks for helping us to stay focused!
