A blue orchid for the first day of spring

March is a time for many local and regional orchid shows. It is always interesting to see the variety of plants and the color combinations provided by nature. Blue orchids are sometimes featured in special exhibits. They are not usually found in at home displays. You certainly will not have the Monday blues when you enjoy the beauty of a blue orchid.

This bloom was photographed at the Maryland Orchid Society Show which was part of the Maryland Home and Garden Show at the Timonium Fairgrounds.

Please share photographs from your favorite places in the comments for this post.

Good Morning Roy~ I wish I had some flower shots to share in my comments, but alas I do not.  I've never seen a blue orchid.  It's breath-taking!

Good afternoon, Donna and Andrew. Thanks for stopping by to check the blue orchid.

Our real estate office is very busy on this first day of spring. Home buyers are taking advantage of the attractive prices and the very low interest rates.

Blooming for home buyers this spring!

Hi Roy - Beautiful shades of blue in that orchid, like the colors of the sky from day to night. Here are some orange fringed tulips from The Bellagio:

Thanks for your comments and your beautiful photographs. The Sonoma baylands could certainly inspire some painters as well as photographers.
