Northwest Denver is the home of the Highlands, a neighborhood that has become very popular over the past ten years. This once transitional neighborhood has quickly become one of the most highly desired hot spots in town. These days, when buyers shop for hip neighborhoods in Denver, they rarely look farther than Highlands. These are the most common reasons why home buyers can't resist the Highlands and now call it home.

1. The Vibe. The entire Highlands area is changing from what used to be a transitional area to one that is a very chic, young, urban destination. After work or on weekends, you’re only a short walk to a farmer’s market, a street fair, or live music at Highland-Pacific Oyster Bar. Decidedly youthful and hip, Highlands is a fun place to live and play.

2. The Location. Highlands offers easy access to downtown Denver and its northwest location cuts travel time to the mountains –great for the mile-high skiing, hiking, and mountain biking weekend-warrior community. Lower Highland, or LoHi, just to the east, is a burgeoning enclave featuring several of Denver’s finest restaurants. Neighboring Berkeley—host of First Friday Art Walks in the summer—offers a vibrant collection of art and photography galleries.

3. Highlands Square. Located at 32nd and Lowell, this is the most popular destinaton in Highland. When it comes to charming, energetic town centers, it’s hard to beat Highlands Square. It's a favorite gathering place for locals. Brunch and happy hour are especially hopping in the square, where neighbors enjoy cocktails and conversation. Highlands Square features top-notch restaurants, coffee shops, boutique clothing stores, sunny patios, bookstores, delis, a cooking school, and even a cupcake shop.

4. The Dining. From organic farm-to –table bistros to sushi and raw bars, Highland’s selection of gourmet eats means an amazing meal is never far from home.Speaking of restaurants, Highlands locals have easy access to 5280 magazine Top of the Town winners Lola, Duo, and Squeaky Bean, along with favorites Stella’s, Root Down, LoHi Steak Bar, and Highland-Pacific Oyster Bar.

5. The Investment. Real estate prices have been steadily rising in Highlands, making it one of Denver’s best real estate bets. First time home-buyers may find more affordable options in neighboring Sunnyside, Regis, Berkeley, and Chafee Park—which are all close enough to enjoy the Highland amenities—but move-up buyers can find fantastic investments in Highlands.
