I had never heard of Gangstagrass, nor their song "Long Hard Times To Come"  featuring T.O.N.E.-z before I saw the opening episode of Justified last March. They play a very unique hypnotic style of music that manages to combine deep south instruments and music with modern black lyrics, I encourage you to listen.  The song conveys the spirit of the television series "JUSTIFIED".

Justified, imho, is a very good example of the type of series major networks should be producing. Available in the U.S. on F.X and in Canada on Super Channel.  I would recommend it for adult audiences because of the violence in the subject matter.

Based on an Elmore Leonard short story, "Fire in the Hole", and created by Canadian Graham Yost, this television series is set in Lexington Kentucky and rural Eastern Kentucky hills including Harlan, the hometown of U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens.

Raylan Givens

Timothy Olyphant, plays Raylan, in a role reminiscent of Seth Bullock, a character he played in another critically acclaimed television series Deadwood.  A throwback lawman with a twitchy trigger finger, he is the black sheep of the local Marshall's office, but because of his knowledge of the local people and the area, is invaluable to them.
Boyd Crowder
For me, it is the complex interaction between the main characters, Raylan's friend and arch nemesis, Boyd Crowder, the villain played brilliantly by Walton Goggins, who seem to have shared a past and both be two sides of the same person, with the struggle of good and evil boiling within,

Ava Crowder

and Ava Crowder (formerly married to Boyd's brother) who generates a searing chemistry with both Raylan and Boyd. Their history, her attractiveness, frailness and her strength evokes strong emotions from both Boyd and Raylan.

Winona Hawkins

To complicate matters for Raylan, is his relationship with his ex, Winona Hawkins, played by Natalie Zea. It seems at once, they both want to rekindle and are scared of their past.

Adding to the intrigue is the complex history and questionable past of the Givens, Crowder and Bennet families.  If you have missed it so far, try to catch up on passed episodes on re-runs, or if it is available on DVD or the Internet.
