Staging My Front Yard

By
Real Estate Agent with David Tracy Real Estate #555994

All this talk about staging the front yard has had me taking a good look at my own front yard. What I found was not very pretty. Yes, I understand we are coming out of winter and things are not looking very pretty.

I am not selling my home but I do want it to look nice. I don't want to be the ugly house of the neighborhood. My lawn is cut bi-weekly for now until we have to go weekly. The lawn is edged and looks good. But I have nothing else. No doodads or flower beds. So I have started to look for things to dress up my front yard.

In my quest to find a nice gift for my last home buyers I stumbled upon a county pottery store. Actually it is someones front yard but they had a nice selection of products. There I found those great big clay pots that people use for those bigger plants. I purchased one!

My mom has a Sago Palm for me and I have wanted to bring it home.  I just didn't have a pot to plant it in. Now I do! Below is the pot I have purchased for that plant. It takes two angry men to lift it. I know because my husband was angry to have to lift it. LOL Now my sego palm will look great at the corner of my garage entrance. Below is the picture of the pot I purchased. I want three more but they are expensive.

My sister Rebecca, says that the large Sego Plant will not look good in the pot and I should just plant it in the ground. I explained if I ever move I would want to bring it with me. Mostly because I am a softy and my mom gave me the plant.

So I have been really thinking hard about that and now believe I should put another large plant there. Or maybe a bunch of blooming flowers. I would like to have some plants like in the pictures shown below or a  Bird of Paradise. Frank my father-in-law had a huge plant in his back yard. I can go get some cuttings and plant it in the pot.

But I am not stopping there. I also have a back porch wrought iron swing that I plan to spray paint and display in the front yard. I will be purchasing several smaller potted plants to place around it. I want to make it look like a small oasis in the yard.

Then I will be purchasing some stone to make flower beds around my two oak trees in the front yard.  Yes, I will be planting some flowers there too. When I am finished I want it to look picture perfect. I am not a landscape designer but I sure wish one would give me a freebie design.  I think I will look around and see if I can find some pictures of lawns that I can emulate.

So anyone can stage their own yard just because...as long as you have a few angry men to help you!

Susie,

Sounds great, drive through a few neighborhoods and take some pictures of plants and landscapes of interest. Then it is easy to plan your own garden.

Happy Easter! I have several large pots on my back porch that we have put several different plams in. Boy do I understand the angry men sentence since we had to get a larger pot for one of my palms I encountered that angry man.LOL

I think the palm would be great in that pot... And I bet it is REALLY heavy after the dirt and plant are in it... I will be expecting photos of your yard when you are done with all those big plans.. :)
