I must admit, I am really confused by this being featured as well. It is an ad for a school and there are very few details to understand what the author is really talking about, such as Lenn's point.

Ads and spam to boot. Well. Washington changed the sales person name to broker with no change in responsibility. I suppose it's featured so Alan May will know.

I don't mind blogging about our business, isnt it what we are all doing here?  But to outright advertise, perhaps that's a little presumptuous. Also, is there a way to get rid of these Chinese clothing ads that seem to be popping up all over? Moderator?

Is it really an ad ?  Surprising that it was featured.  I guess it is appropriate that there are spam ads in the comments.

I think most of the companies here - show up as sponsored eh? Ooh, maybe they pay AR to do so - that may help reduce the servers going down?

Interesting!  I'm not sure whether this is good or bad but I'm leaning towards bad at this point.

In my mind:  Micheal provided some good information for licensees in the Illinois market.  What's the big deal about it being an ad (if that's what you chose to call it).

Is this post is clearly an advertisment for the Illinois Academy of Real Estate?  OF COURSE IT IS!

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT???

Don't real estate agents and brokers write about their wonderful real estate practices??
Don't loan officers and lenders write about their services for mortgage loans?
Don't home inspectors write about their experiences with home inspections?

Everything we write is advertisement unless we write anomously without displaying our company or affiliation in the real estate industry.

What is the owner of this blog supposed to write about, the weather??

Want to see some advertising spam?  Look at the two comments from wqwqeqweqw above.  This comment spam can be eliminated by only permitting comments from members.

My first impression is that is a lot of hours. My second impression is I do a lot of hours I never get Credit to attend just because I want to learn.

I never understand the title of Broker when they work under a managing Broker. Aren't they STILL a salesperson but just being called a Broker?

I'm in agreement with Len, we all advertise about our services some way or another. As long as the blog is relevant to the Real Estate industry there shouldn't be such a big deal. However, I don't think this should have been a featured blog.

I'm of the view point that this post is offering information that might be helpful to those in the State of Illinois or someone moving to Illinois... and, there is nothing wrong with that!

I agree it's confusing per Gary's comment (#22).  Now all salespersons are Brokers in Illinois, But they still are working under Managing Brokers.  It's the same set-up as before, though they are requiring more CE to be a Broker( former Salesperson).  Former Brokers have until 4/30/13 to upgrade to a Managing Broker License.  To me it's basically semantics.

Yes, it's an ad.  We are all writing ads.  Maybe people are offended because it's an ad to real estate agents?

But, that is completely within reason on a blogging site about real estate.  Keep in mind that people don't ask for a feature.

I agree! What is wrong with a company promoting their business via a localism post for the general public.

Hi Lenn.  Yes it is an ad.  Yes many of our posts are "ads" for our services...

I still can't imagine why it was featured, other than you flagged it for some reason...

Was it particularly well written?  Extra informative?  I would say no...
