I stumbled across this photo tonight after having a conversation with an agent that I have much respect for and who happens to be my competition.
We’re both passionate about proving outstanding customer service. We’re both energetic, have high ethical standards, and believe in surrounding ourselves with positive people. We’re self motivated, we advertise, blog, make videos, communicate effectively with our clients and we’re friends who can hold each other accountable.
Tonight we talked about why some agents are more successful than others. We both agreed successful agents regardless of what firm they worked for exhibit and possess the following:
Positive and creative thinking, time management skills, communications skills, proper pricing and presentation of listings, they volunteer and give back to the community, put their clients needs first, are not afraid of saying no to unrealistic demands of a client, are diligent in prospecting, are not afraid to ask for letters of recommendations, practice and sharpen their presentation materials, and are continually seeking knowledge to better serve their clients.
Notice how we never said a successful agent was boastful, drove a nice car, lived in a big house, and had a designated parking space. Yet there is a perception by some that this IS what makes an agent successful.
It’s the skills you possess NOT your possessions that make you successful.
Thanks for reading.
