I just can't help myself, I have to laugh. The President of the United States visits the Queen of England and signs the Westminster Abby book with the wrong date (2008). Nothing like making your mark in history. You know that mishap will follow him for the rest of his life. How embarassing? Maybe he thought he was still in campaign mood.
Ok Ok Ok! I know I should not be happy at someone elses mistake but I just could not help myself this morning.
I can definitely imagine myself making a similar sort of mishap, but you're right, it is funny nonetheless. I often regret as well that I never took the time to try and create a more compelling and grand signature.
I have made a few absent-minded mistakes myself in my life, so I thank the Lord I don't have the media scrutinizing my every move and a whole lot of people just waiting to pounce on them.
I too have made similar mistakes...I once missed a date by 10 years...my mind was elsewhere.
It is my thought that this President has never been out of campaign mode.

Especially when the liberal media portrays Obama as so brilliant - it is hard to get a date correct - I mean when 2010 turns into 2011 for a few weeks even months you sometimes put 2010 - but did you ever make a mistake and put 2008? That is something else, but who knows perhaps I will do that on a contract this week - 2008
It's even hilarious when libs say that it's just human to make mistakes like that. I still remember how they & the old media crucified Dan Quayle for misspelling potato. I expect them to be this magnanimous when the GOP candidates make trivial mistakes from now on.
I still write 2010 every now and then, but then again I didn't graduate from Hahvahd.
It's 24 hours after the event and already the media pretends it didn't happen. Your right Yolanda, the media is only magnanimous when it pertains to their candidates.
Nick...I still am occasionally putting 2010 on some paperwork; I can blame it on age, the President can't. And my mistake aren't out there for the World to see and make fun of.
Lois - 2010 is a mistake because it is so close to 2011 and you have done that for an entire year - did you ever write 2008 on any checks lately? Age or not - that is just plain wierd ;)
I agree, the guy is still stuck in his campaign mode of 2008. His campaign never really stopped. Every State of the Union address does not sound like a man on the job, but more like a man on the campaign trail.
Nick....Not any weirder than writing my maiden name on a check when I have been married 35 years. Fortunately I was born with a healthy sense of humor about myself, and I thank God every day I married a man with his own wonderful sense of humor. I have an even better one but that's for another time. The bottom line is, no one will ever remember or care about my mistakes, it is different for the President of the United States.

Georgia - he's made a lot gaffs, and so has old Joe Biden, but their passes have no expiration date.
Presidents are schooled in proper protocoll in any country they visit. With all the mistakes Obama is making it is obvious he did not listen; one is bad enough but several shows a lack of respect. He can't be that distracted. Being Michelle made a mistake with the Queen the first time, you would think they would go out of their way to be prepared. This should not be acceptable for any President.
I have no doubt his mind was elsewhere. The real question is just where his mind is?
I heard he also told the Queen that he sure like tea time in England much more than the tea parties back in the States.
