Tonight my partner, Warren, and I took a walk around our Carrollton, Tx neighborhood and coming home I discovered that the outdoor light on my flagpole was out. Actually, it went out about a week or so ago but I've just forgotten to change it.
So I went out to the garage and got another CLF Spot light and went to change out the bulb. The one I removed had a small note written on it in marker. It read MAY 04. We moved here in July of 03 and put the pole in around September of that year. The first bulb, a regular incandescent bulb, burned out and I replaced it with this bulb in May of 2004.
So the bulb burned every night for 2,555 days, roughly 12 hours a night which would be 30.666 hours. I don't know about you, but that just seems like an amazing amount of time to get out of a product. Considering we've had temperatures up to 112 degrees and as cold as 9 for 4 days in a row.
Warren and I keep track of our green iniatives on our blog site at Dallas Green Streets.com.
