Friday Night Fireworks on the River start tonight at 9:30 PM.

The New Hope/Lambertville Friday Night Fireworks are back for the second great year. The fun begins at 9:30 PM tonight. Fireworksare viewable from either side of the Delaware River in both of these delightful river towns. Make a night of it. Enjoy dinner at any the wonderful restaurants and cafes in both towns, browse the shops, spend some time antiquing and then cap off the evening with a drink or ice cream as you celebrate the Memorial Holiday Weekend and the unofficial start of summer.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and private donors, Friday Night Fireworks will take place every Friday night for the 15 weeks of summer.

Anne - What a fantastic way to generate tourism for the local businesses. I'm impressed and surprised that this is privately funded by the people. There is talk in our area of canceling the Fourth of July fireworks because of the economy.

New Hope and Lambertville are great day tourist destinations, only separated by the small bridge that is walkable. For many years New Hope was the bigger attraction, but in recent years Lambertville has made a big push, fueled by an increase in antique shops and a few very nice galleries. With the recession, I think both towns see this as a great way to draw people back. Fine dining, high end and kitschy retail - even water ice and ice cream are reminding people what fun this area is. I had a meeting yesterday with a vendor who has lived in the vicinity for years. He was taking his kids and some friends up to the fireworks last night and had no idea that this wasn't a new thing. Hence the post.

What a better way to start the seson than with a night among the stars with firweworks. We are lucky here - we have only had a big rainy season - no flooding or tornados. But we are ready for good weather, good news and summer.
