Memorial Day (plus 1)

For Memorial Day our local cemeteries attract a large number of floral tributes.

This may be common across the country, but I have only Utah for my reference, as I  am "new" resident and seem to be here for most major holidays.

The Sandy City (UT) cemetery  is less than 300 yards from my home.

Since Thursday the floral tributes and pinwheels have been arriving to make its peak display ready for Memorial Day (yesterday). Not wishing to intrude on personal grief and remembrance, I made my photo record on Memorial Day plus 1.

I am relatively unfamiliar with cemetery decoration in my life, so the bursts of color intrigue me in every Utah cemetery I pass, suggesting care and attention by families for their ancestors and loved ones on a regular basis.

That's a beautiful sight Larry - just to know people care and remember these brave heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Larry - wow, this is a beautiful picture!  I would think it would be great to live that close to the cementary - they have to be nice quiet neighbors!  All kidding aside....this looks like a nice relaxing place with lots of history and stories to tell.  Enjoy June...it is here!

With the mountains in the background, that's a beautiful place to "rest" for eternity.  Excellent photo and tribute Larry.

Gorgeous picture.  It is so nice to see our families and friends aren't forgotten even though they are gone.

All - thankyou for your comments. I expect the floral tributes will begin to disappear today in line with cemetery policy. It is a beautiful, well kept spot that changes with the seasons.
