What Cosumers Should Expect of Real Estate Professionals

Any profession is an occupation which, by its nature, requires a high degree of training, specialized study, and contiuing education. Like the medical, leagal, and accounting professions, it is not all learned in books, but to a great extent in pratical application, a transaction at a time.
Common traits a consumer, whether they are in the market to purchase a home, or are in a position to need to sell a home, this customer/client has the right to expect the highest degree of performance from their real estate agent as the professionals that serve them in the other capacities mentioned above.
Most states, as in the Carolinas, require an agent hired exclusively to provide their client with certain fiduciary obligations such as loyalty, accountability, obedience, dilligence, skill,knowledge, and confidentiality. The agent should also have a reputation for responsiveness, integrity, fairness and good ethics in their business dealings. This pretty much defines character. You may say that reputations are based on what others know about us; true character is what we know about ourselves.
If you, as a prospective buyer or seller of real estate, can be satified you have such an individual in front of you, and they can demonstrate their knowledge of the market, as it pertains to your move, and a thorough understanding of your needs and goals, you have probably found competent and trustworthy representation. If I don't try to maintain that standard everyday, in every transaction, my greatest asset, my reputation would suffer. I cant' afford that.
