This is downtown Vegas at night during one of their shows.  What makes this so special is that when the strip went up it probably hurt downtown's business, but instead of standing by and watching its own demise the powers that be came up with this brilliant idea to bring people back downtown and keep them there.  By enclosing the entire downtown area with a roof that sports video and music shows periodically the roof lends itself to not only an entertainment venue, but also protects from the elements.  This keeps customers there and coming back.  I know it worked for me.

Now, how to incorporate this same idea into the Sawgrass Mills Oasis section of the mall in Sunrise, Florida?  This section of the mall is technically dead with the exception of the Cheesecake Factory and Ron Jon.  Stores have fallen by the wayside like homes getting ripped apart in tornado alley.  Almost looks like Joplin.  What hurts the Oasis is the heat and the rain.  Outdoor malls in Florida never a good idea, but this can be overcome.

Just look at the Marlins.  They finally got it and built a new stadium with a retractable.  Now maybe they will go from 15,000 fans a game to 50,000.  I hope so for their sake.  I'm getting a bit off track here.  I'm not saying build a retractable roof over the Oasis, but why not a entertaining roof like that of downtown Vegas?  This would not only eliminate the rain and heat, but give customers a reason to go, thus helping out the retailers and eventually the economy.

Yes, it would be expensive, but in the long run it would pay off big time.  People from all over the world would flock to that place, sales would go up, and inevitably, rents would too.  Everybody wins.
