CLUE stands for Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange and is essentially a record of all claims made on a specific home.  The report follows the home. If the home has had a flood during the last few years or any other significant reported loss that should be of high interest to a current potential buyer. Order the report before writing an offer as this might prevent you and your family from making a huge mistake.

A CLUE report can be ordered via a firm named LexisNexis from their web site and it is my understanding that one report per year can be ordered free.

Excellent reminder Robert!  There for a while I was including an insurability addendum with all OTP contracts as some insurance companies were NOT insuring homes with any prior water claims...  Not something you want to find out after you've purchased the home.
