Kids are already out of school for the summer and a lot of parents are asking, now what...

As a kid, I couldn't wait until the summer because that meant fun time at the pool, handing out with my friends, riding my bike, playing games and Slurpees.   As a parent with children of my own, it's only fair that I provide my children with some fun activities for the summer.  I checked the YMCA, Private Camps, and the Department of Parks and Recreation.  Upon visiting the centers, I was very impressed with:

YMCA - There are two YMCA's in Prince Georges County and they offers a variety of programs for youths - Traditional camps, Sports and Learning camps, Specialty camps, Curiosity Science camps, Arts camps, Leadership/Teen camps, and Trips Camps.

LOCATION/ADDRESS:
YMCA Prince George's County Program Center
3501 Moylan Drive
Bowie, Maryland 20715

Phone: (301) 262-4342

YMCA Potomac Overlook
10709 Indian Head Highway
Ft. Washington, MD  20744
Phone: (301) 203-2302

Private Camps - There are tons of private camps in Prince Georges County and I've checked out a few and they were all pretty good, but I show favoritism towards Art z Kids located in Upper Marlboro, MD.  This camp exposes children to visual arts through a variety of art mediums, cultural projects and Art History.  My daughter is a student and she'll be spending some of her summer vacation at the Art z Kids summer arts program.

Department of Recreation - Prince Georges County Department of Parks and Recreation has the largest camp with a variety programs from visual and performing arts, swimming, camping, dancing, computers, crafts, sport and so much more.

It's not too late to register for the second or third session.
