Fourth of July Fireworks 2011 in Washington DC
The Guide:
Washington DC is the place to be and celebrate July 4th!
The National Mall, with Washington DC’s monuments and the U. S. Capitol in the background will be filled with people starting early in the morning.
This is the nation's capital and it is not just a one hour celebration with a few fireworks. .
This is an all-day event that begins with a parade along Constitution Avenue and ending with a spectacular display of fireworks over the Washington Monument.
Here's the perfect plan to enjoy the festivities:

Arrive early and take the Metro. . .nothing worse to get stuck in traffic after an all day outing. .
Caution: The Smithsonian Metro station will be closed on the Fourth. .plan accordingly!

Washington, DC’s Independence Day Parade
Parade Start Time: 11:45 a.m.
Parade Route: Constitution Avenue and 7th to 17th Streets

Four things to do and keep you occupied while waiting for the fireworks. .

- White House Visitor Center Family Events
- Concert on the Washington Monument Grounds
- Visit museums

The grand daddy of the concerts for the day is just outside The Capitol:
A Capitol Fourth Concert
Time: 8 - 9:30 p.m. (Admittance begins at 3 p.m.)
Hosted by Jimmy Smits, the annual free concert on the Capitol's West Lawn features performances by Steve Martin, Josh Groban, Little Richard, "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks, the National Symphony Orchestra and military bands.
I don't know if I mentioned this. . but admittance is FREE!!!!
Note: At exactly 9:PM leave the concert no matter who is singing. . .and position yourself for the best view possible close to The Washington Monument

4th of July Fireworks on the National Mall
Fireworks Time: At dark, usually around 9:15 p.m. (Just in case). . Rain Date: July 5th
Launch Location: The fireworks are launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and light up the sky over the Washington Monument
