Today is the day that we get to celebrate our Independence!!

For many that is taken for granted!

We should never forget what this means.....

The ability to attend a church ....if we wish or do not wish

The ability to argue with others about politics....

The ability to be small business owners....

The ability to own our own homes

and so much more!

Let us not forget that these freedoms have a cost!

I Salute all the men and women who are serving our country both over seas and her stateside!

We all know that Freedom has been hard won!!!

I am posting a few pictures of my husband and the American Legion/VFW Posts Honor Guard in Rockford and Belvidere Illinois

They will be marching in a parade in Kirkland Illinois!

American Legion 2This is a task he doesn't take lightly....they march in parades and serve during funeral detail....because he works nights this can be a bit of a daunting task!

Yet never does he hesitate....even at the cost of sleep...this week they participated in 3 funerals!

They do this out of respect for the Veterans out there...a few of them even friends of the Posts'. 

My Husband marches in the parades and serves on the Funeral duty in memory of his Father who also was very active in the American Legion! He was not able to serve in the military so he serves proudly in the organization "Sons of the American Legion"

If you have a Father, Mother, Grandparent or you yourself served in the Military you are eligible for membership.   It is a good cause to support and become involved in!

We'd all do well to remember that Freedom isn't free. Our military men and women have fought and died for it - and their families have both suffered and supported them in that endeavor.
