School Is Starting Soon!

Homebuying has enough pressure.  As we pass the middle of summer, there is a little more added pressure with getting your new home found and closed before classes start. However, if the right house just doesn't show up on your radar screen, there are a few things you can consider doing:

1. If you are moving from another city or state, consider finding a rental home in the school district you would like your children in.  That gives you a chance to take a deep breath and still continue your home search.

2. If you are moving 'across town', check with the school districts to see if you can enroll your children before you make that move.  If I understand correctly, districts that don't have open enrollment allow this but set a time frame for when you must be physically living with in the district boundaries.

Below are the start dates for schools in the Tucson, Arizona and Las Cruces, New Mexico areas.  The district websites are linked as well so feel free to click around to see more information on each of the districts, enrollment requirements and school locations.  Finding the right school is very important.

Classes for the Tucson Independent School District and the Las Cruces Independent School District are starting in less than a month!

Tucson School Information:

TUSD classes for all grades start on August 15th. 
The Amphi School District starts a week earlier on August 10th. This school district is within the Tucson city limits, reaching from central Tucson to the north.
The Vail School District started today - July 18th. Vail is located to the southeast of Tucson.
Sahuarita Schools start August 8th. Sahuarita is located to the south of Tucson.

There are many charter schools in Tucson, each of which have different start days as some are on a balanced or year around school calendar.

Las Cruces School Information:

LCPS classes start on August 15th.

There are charter and private schools available. If they are more to your liking, checking with them to see when classes start is easy to do. Some of these are on balanced or year around school calendars.
