Football Is Just Around The Corner - Winners Are Made In The Off Season
It's not even August yet, but we're gearing up for football season, which for us means fall is coming. Both our 10 and 12 year old sons play youth tackle football and this week they took a football camp in The Dalles, 20 miles east of Hood River.
Our 12-year-old has a t-shirt that says "Winners Are Made In The Off Season", which I think is fitting. Our boys took the extra camp to be sure to be in shape and ready when team practice begins. It takes discipline, dedication and heart to be a good athlete and extra practice should serve them well.
The camp was put on by The Dalles Wahtonka High School Football team. High school players assisted their coaches in working with kids from 3rd through 8th grade. They spent four mornings, 3 hours each morning working on football basics and concentrating on conditioning, agility and strength training. They made it fun with contests and games and it definately got our boys charged up and excited for football season.
Our kids will be taking another camp here in Hood River on Aug. 8th, then football team practice begins on Aug. 15th. To sign up for the Hood River camp and/or teams, visit the Community Education Department of the Hood River County School District.
