South Pointe ParkAt the southern tip of Miami Beach there is a green space with a great look and purpose: the South Pointe Park. The park underwent a major renovation effort, completed in 2009. A 20-foot-wide serpentine walkway slithers through the almost 18 acres of grass and sand dunes.

The South Pointe Park is located next to the beach just south of the most luxurious South Beach condos at the top of South Beach, it has an area for barbecue and pavilions. Bring a picnic basket as there are open lawns across the park lined by palm trees. Enjoy a nice day at the park and at the same time at the beach.

A must for kids and for the eternal kids, are spaghetti-shaped fountains that when a button is pressed, they spray water from all the corners. You may then get a cooling alfresco shower after your workout or let the kids get completely drenched and splashy.

The South Pointe Park in Miami Beach is also a great place to walk your dog. However, they need to be kept on a leash. Doggie waste stations as well as doggie water stations are strategically placed throughout the park.

An art-deco inspired observation deck with orange lounges is the preferred spot for reading a book or just spot cruise ships come and go from the Port of Miami. The South Pointe is also a perfect place when you want to relax after clubbing in South Beach. At night, the 20-foot wide promenade is lit up by 18 neon light towers that shine on the walkway. These towers glow in various colors making each visit to South Pointe Park a different experience. You can also see them from numerous South Beach condos.

Halfway of the promenade there is also the famous Smith & Wollensky restaurant, which has a great waterside patio and a bar. Not to mention that it is also a prime spotting place for local celebrities, political figures and even a few movie stars.

Once you visit this amazing South Beach Park, you might actually get addicted and become a frequent visitor. It is also possible to rent a bike in the South Pointe Park. Just walk to a DecoBike station, located near the Smith & Wollensky restaurant and pick a bike you like. Just remember that the South Pointe Park in Miami Beach closes at 10pm daily, but the walkway remains open until 2am.
