Call me crazy, but here’s my suggestion. Go to the Fort Worth Zoo! Yes, the zoo… in this heat! My son and I love going to the zoo when it’s this hot. But you have to do it right… it’s all about strategy.
Go when they open, at 10am. There are very few people there and it’s not scorching hot yet. But that’s not it. For the first hour or so, walk around and see what you want to see. Go to Texas Wild first because nobody ever goes that direction first. Everyone goes toward the primates and elephants first. Then go back towards the lions, tigers, bears, then elephants and primates, etc. Now when it starts to heat up, go to the MOLA (Museum of Living Art). It’s indoors and they keep it nice and cold. They have all the coolest snakes, lizards, and aquarium exhibits you could imagine.
So basically you can go to the zoo for a couple of hours, be gone by the time it gets hot and you have an awesome adventure.
The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the best in the country. Everybody that gets the opportunity should try it out…even in the Texas summer!
