Chipmunks Cooling Down

Vegas Bob was touring "Valley of Fire" only 50 minutes from Las Vegas Nevada with my brother and his family, and look who we ran into ...

Elvin and the Chipmunks!

Temperatures reached around 110 degrees, though VB is accustom to hiking in very HOT temperatures my brothers younger children weren't.

And by the looks of these photographs neither was Elvin and his friends!

Chipmunks Cooling Down

When my brother's children called me over to look at Elvin & Friends, I started laughing trying to figure out what these creatures were up to.

There were hundreds of these Chipmunks and many of them were in the shade lying on their belly's cooling down from the extreme temperatures ... it was quite a sight to see ... ;o)

VB~ that is hilarious... my son's pit terrier, "freya", spreads eagle on her belly to cool off in the kitchen when she comes in... it's so funny! reminds me of these little guys!!! lordy= that's funny!

VB - that's great! I I'd a thought these guys were just daring people to run them over then had some trick up their sleeve to jump up and attack the car! I have lots of squirrels and watch them do funny, sneaky things. My favorite is when they gang up on my tiny 5lb Jack Russell then throw acorns at him. It's retaliation for barking at them all the time! Have a good one!

Hello everyone and Endre at comment #2, Elvin & Friends were lying around the bad of the museum at "Valley of Fire" where it gets shade all day. They play around in the sun and then come back to the cool cement to cool down while lying on their belly's.

And I would like to thank everyone for stopping by ...

PS - What is very strange about Desert Heat is ... it can be around 105-110 degrees and very HOT in the sun. But get in the shade in a pol and it's cold and you have "Goosebumps" on your skin.
