For Father's Day my daughter gave me a Dandy dinner cruise on the Potomac River. It took a while to arrange the time to go, but last night we had our date finally realized.
As you can see, she is 14 going on 29.
She arranged everything, even choosing our food.
The Dandy serves a 5 course meal for the dinner cruise.
We both enjoyed virgin piña coladas, the prime rib dinner, with a very fluffy chocolate mousse for desert.
And, among the 40 guests or so, we were the only ones who danced to the live music. Last winter we took a ballroom dancing class together. So we danced a fox trot, a box, and a waltz to the music. The pianist saw we were dancing and changed the music to include some bosa nova from the 60s. It worked!
I must admit, I did get a lot of looks that said, "Look at the old masher with the young chick..." People are people. So, as you probably know, I milked it! I love to tweak busy bodies!
School starts next week, so we had to get this in!
One very nice thing you can do is go onto the roof deck. Last night was a calm, warm night. The water was glass.
The cruise goes up and down the Potomac River, past the airport and various monuments to Georgetown and the Key Bridge, and then turns down a side waterway. We smoothly slid past the East Potomac Park Golf Course, the National War College and Buzzard Point, to the Frederick Douglass Bridge.
You can see the Frederick Douglass Bridge here with the blue lights and the red light over my shoulder is Washington Nationals Park, for baseball.
Dinner and the cruise lasts a very enjoyable 3 hours.
We had a terrific time and took far more photos than this. It was a memorable gift, and date!
