First up on my show was Jupiter Jane. Jupiter Jane is a mobile eatery in a converted school bus put together by Laura Calvert Peitz and Maria Corsini and friends. I first got to know Laura when she owned the Coit House many years ago. More recently, she was the owner of Dish Home Cooking. I managed the restaurant for them, and after closing Laura was looking for her next venture. Jupiter Jane has some of the same menu ideas Dish had: gourmet vegan, gluten-free, and fresh foods.

We talked about how Joel’s got started: Sandpoint’s most popular lunch Mexican restaurant. Joel would go around town in a van selling his burritos, etc. Then he was in one of the lunch shacks that used to be on Fourth, finally making enough to build a brick and mortar location that is packed daily. Jupiter Jane hopes to follow the same path. They also do events, and that, for now, has become their forte. I have promised Laura I will design a website for them, and yesterday purchased the www.JupiterJane.com domain for them. If you want to book the bus for your event or find out more information, call Laura at 208-597-3284.

During the show I read a thank you card from Basement Games & CDs. We had them on a previous show that was raising money at the Stock the Food Bank Block Party and it was a great success.

Finally, Katherine Funk talked about her Zumba dance workout program both at her studio Fitness With Funk and the aqua Zumba at Cornerstone Physical Therapy and Aquatics. We had interviewed Cornerstone earlier this year, and it is a wonderful facility.

Katherine is a unique person with a special story. Having lost over 100 pounds, she did it with Zumba. Her story is so compelling she was part of the national commercial for both Zumba and QVC. This isn’t the only time she has been interviewed. She was also featured in Sandpoint Magazine.

She is about to go to India as the choreographer for the World Orphan Choir, part of the International Children’s Network. We interviewed this group last year when they had the children singing like angels from Uganda.

Katherine is married with four kids, and as she described it, with daily chores making time precious, such as tackling Mount Washmore, Zumba was the perfect way for her to lose weight.

She has been an event and wedding planner for over ten years, and her other business is Memorable Funktions.

Her studio Fitness With Funk is at 613 Ridley Village near the old Sunshine Center, and their telephone number is 208-627-2030.

She was on the show to promote the upcoming event: The Networking Alliance Community Fair.
