If you have just moved to Delaware County make sure you take the time to visit Tyler Arboretum.  It is a wonderful place to explore nature and to escape from the routine of everyday amongst the trees and trails this arboretum has to offer.

When you enter the property you will notice a very high fence.  This fence is important to keep the deer from devouring the trees and fauna that otherwise would be gone if the deer were permitted on the property.

Tyler Arboretum has its own website where they post upcoming events.  If you become a member of the Arboretum discount prices are given to many events.

According to their website Tyler Arboretum has 20 miles of hiking trails through their 650 acres of land.  It is one of the oldest arboretums in the northeast (thanks to William Penn and Thomas Minshall) and it is open to the public all year long.

Since Tyler Arboretum is a teaching facility don’t be surprised if you see a group of children or adults exploring the grounds with a naturalist or working together in the barn creating something from nature.

Tyler Arboretum is located at 515 Painter Road, Media, PA 19063 for your GPS navigation devise.

If you have never been to Tyler Arboretum check out their website Tyler Arboretum or call 610-566-9134 and plan your visit!

Hi Gloria~ It looks like the leaves are already turning colors in beautiful Delaware County Pennsylvania! It is so enjoyable to see groups of children having fun while they are learning! One of my favorite sights!

Best regards from Seattle,

Hi Gloria, Would I be correct in the assumption that this Arboretum is not that far from Longwood Gardens. Their grounds also have so many tree that were brought there and while Longwood isn't as natural as the Tyler Arboretum, these two sites would be complimentary to each other.

The answer to the question you asked on my post, "no book as yet". I haven't gotten through and responded to all the comments but I wanted to tell you that I have been looking into what it would cost for a book, say of the top couple hundred photos out of my library of over 60,000 photos.  There are favorites for sure and I did sort of fantasize having a coffee table book not to sell but just to show off to friends and family. :-)

Hi Gloria, that's a pretty large area to explore!  I guess they are trying to keep the wildlife out though, I was just thinking what a wonderful refuge this would be for all kinds of animals.

Thanks for sharing this information.  We will have to add the arboretum to our list of places to visit.

Hi Kym.  Hopefully one day you will make it to Delaware County.  There is so much to see here and this is a good place to visit as a family unit.

Hi Judi, I must say this photo is from last fall.  We are still green at the moment. BUT in just a month's time we will be seeing these golden colors!  You must have fond memories of your autumn's spent here in PA years ago.

Hi Cal. Thank you. Yes a great place to burn off those calories!

Hi William, Tyler is maybe 30 miles from Longwood.  Yes you are correct, Tyler is more natural and Longwood is very manicured for the most part, but it does have a natural area way out back on their property.
I think it would be great if you had a publication of your favorite photos.  I know of an aquaintance who has done just that.  He also takes a lot of wonderful photos and gathered up a few on a particular area he loves and wrote titles to set a mood on each page.  He gave them out to friends and family, not sure if he charged them to cover costs of production.  The book looked simply wonderful.  I'd imagine this sort of thing could take your hobby to a different level.  Maybe you will do that one day!

Hi Silvia, It is a large area.  Some of the trails do run outside of the fenced area.  I remember when they built the fences.  I was really opposed to it because it was such an eye sore to me.  But it had to be done.  Now it is just there and understood that it is how it has to be to have such a place to visit for future generations.  Just too many deer here.

Take care,

Gloria

Hi Roy, Yes you and Dolores would enjoy this place.  It is a bit more rustic than Longwood, but well worth a visit.  Do check out their website.

Thanks for the flower!

I just cannot believe that deer are not welcome at the Tyler Arboretum. Sounds like discrimination....

Doug & Gloria, the Tyler Arboretum sounds like a very nice place.  It reminds me of the Morton Arboretum just outside Chicago...one of my favorite places to visit especially in the fall.
