Santa Rosa Bear Cubs Football Opener - Living in Sonoma
Opening game day for the Santa Rosa Bear Clubs was a big deal for fans of the Junior College team. Supporters young and old turned out to watch the Bear Cubs play the College of the Siskiyous. Unfortunately the Bear Cubs lost 34 to 37 but it was a hard fought contest. At the end of it all the teams filed off the field with a traditional congratulatory procession. I'm not a huge football fan but I will be before this season is over. My nephew is a freshman on the team and I'm sure I'll be going to a lot more of these games before the year is over. Some of the highlights...for me...included learning more about football plays and the techniques of individual players. I also enjoyed watching everyone else who came to see the Bear Cubs play their first game of the season.
The next home game is September 24th against the College of the Redwoods. I'll be there cheering Lars and his teammates on to victory. I was a cheerleader once upon a time....and I love the roar of the crowds and the action on the field! The Bear Cubs are just one more thing I love about living in Sonoma.
