Take a drive and find a little fun in NC!

Something about this time of year always makes me want to take a drive and do a little adventuring.  Maybe it's the cooler weather, maybe it's the free time after a wonderfully busy Summer or maybe it's just that my natural wanderlust kicks in this time of year.  Whatever the reason, just about every weekend I'm off in search of something new to experience.  It may be a festival, a dive diner that serves the BEST pancakes, a "Junque" store with treasures that take me back to my childhood, or a chance to stretch my legs and take in some beautiful NC scenery.  There isn't much I'm not up for!

Picture of Maze Craze signAbout 40 miles west of Wilmington NC, in a little town called Hallsboro NC you can find some Fall fun for the entire family.  You'll need to get off 74W/76W and take a couple of backroads to get there, but it's worth the effort.

MAZE CRAZE presents 11 acres of mazes,  hayride, train ride for the kids, games, kiddie maze and even a snack bar hosted by the delightful Galloway family.  We had the good fortune to meet Alma Galloway and her son, who just happen to be 2 of the nicest people it's been my pleasure to meet in a long while.

You read that right, 11 ACRES OF MAZE!  11 ACRES!! Take a look at this picture of the map!  It's incredible!

Lots to see and do and when you're done stop by the snack bar!  If you're coming after dark be sure to wear bug spray and bring a flashlight!  Should you forget, they've got both at the Concession Stand.

If for no other reason, I have to get there for a visit to meet The Z Girl............oh yeah, and BL and CA too, that's a given!  How could I meet The Z Girl without you?  She is "so" my kind of kid.

Tish - sounds like a heap of fun. Everyone needs a giggle. somehow you keep finding activities  - strange and unique. I was having an introverted chuckle that your maze is made of maize.

Tish ~ Now if only we had some kids we could borrow for the day... Do they let adults in without kids to have fun in the maze?

Tish, that sounds like tons of fun.  Now if only it was closer I'd  be there in a flash with at least a dozen grandkids in tow  (my ticket to qualifying for kid zone fun)!  Hope you all had a blast!

Tish, fall was always fun in the Northeast for me.  Hayrides are a special favorite.  If this was my place I'd have to call it something like The May's Amazing Maize Maise Maze.

This looks like a fun afternoon event.  Take a hayride, get lost/found in the corn maze, and grab a snack for the drive home.

Well Tish, it is a bit of a drive, but tell Roger Destiny and I will pick him up on the way!  Is that picture really what the maze looks like?  That is fantastic.  Zoe looks like she had a wonderful time.

One of my aunts once said to me "how are we going to learn if we don't explore."  She was around 9 years old at the time and I was in my mid twenties.  That's been years ago but I'll never forgot those words.

Thanks for stopping by folks!  If you'd all get yourselves to Southeastern NC we could do a bus trip to Maze Craze.  Who's in?

Thank you so very much for posting this blog about our Maze Craze!  We really enjoyed having Zoe and Cinnamon and hope they return soon! A little different than a corn maze, we have planted Sorghum, looks a lot like corn but this season looks so much better than the corn, some of it is 10 feet tall, and green green green , not brown like the corn in most mazes.

Thanks again!
