Oh Did Facebook Change????

Watching my News Feed over the past few days on my Facebook page has been quite interesting. Several people are up in arms about these most recent changes. Now in addition, yesterday another attempt to scare everyone about they are going to start charging again.  Well, I'm not on the staff at Facebook so I have no inside information but here's what I see.

Facebook will always be free

I saw a post today that tonight at midnight your Facebook page will be deleted if you didn't copy and paste this particular spam message that was going around. The new fees were going to be something like $9.99 per month for one level of membership down to $3.99 for the cheapest level.  Strange, I never got any message letting me know how I can actually purchase a membership if I wanted to.  Hummm.

Well next subject:

The new ticker on the right side of the page.....Several people are upset the "EVERYONE" can see your every move, everything you do.  Someone even posted "I can't even go to the bathroom without my friends friends knowing about it. I'll get back to that in a second.

I had dinner with my in-laws last night and they heard the news last night that Facebook has really changed and several of its users were upset. They told me they will never sign up for Facebook because then everyone would know when you would be using the bathroom.

I don't understand why everyone thinks that because you use Facebook that everyone in the world knows when you use the bathroom.  I hope that's not true.  I have never seen a post of mine go out when I've left the bathroom.  Is there a special App on certain people's phones that are causing this to happen?  I thought we had to enter a status, actually type something in there and update that.  Upload photos and push a button to post them.  As far as I know, nothing has ever been done automatically that I didn't request from either my phone or my computer.

First lets get one simple thing straight....never ever ever post anything on the Internet you don't want everyone to see, because it might be found.

Now, I found this link very informational that will help in the security of your Facebook if you are interested in learning, but it will only work if you and your friends implement it.  Here's the link

But most importantly like I said before.... anything you post on the Internet, whether intended for a friend or family member or public or private or whatever is there...it's recorded, for ever....so don't let us know when you are going to the bathroom.

Here's the link again.

I agree that anything on the internet should be treated as public, but the new update is a bit loud for my taste.

I haven't yet seen anything about a fee-based service. Is this for real? Should I be looking for an email?

Melissa - LOL I understand that automatic posting to facebook from the bathroom only works when you have a two level flush button on the loo and you use the second level flush.

Doug, I'm not real fond of the changes myself, I wish there was more easy customization on our part, I would swap the Top News for the Recent Post and turn off that annoying ticker on the side, but hey, it is free so I roll. :-)

Vicky, It is free, there is no charge coming.  You would think we would get notified if they were going to charge.  before you log in there's a note saying it's free and it always will be. Someone just wanted to cause some drama is my guess.

Tara, Thanks for your comments.  I really enjoy Facebook, having been in the military for 20 years, I have friends and family all over the world, it's the best way to keep in touch. Change is supposed to be good, right??

Kathy, LOL, I guess I have an old fashioned toilet, only a single flush button, so it never updates. :-) I'm safe.
