For this series of posts I will begin with the marinas located in Walker County.

Today’s Featured Marina is

For those of you new to Lake Livingston and trying to check out where Huntsville is on Lake Livingston, rest assured, it is NOT there. But Riverside, Texas IS!

What does Riverside, Texas have to do with this, you ask?

Well... Riverside is located 15 miles north-east of Huntsville. It is a town of 425 people. Though we do have a post office, it is too small to handle mail delivery. So our mail comes from the Huntsville post office. Thus -- a Huntsville address.

Having said that, Harmon Creek Marina has a Huntsville Address and is actually located on Harmon Creek near Riverside, Texas.

Harmon Creek Marina is a full service marina and RV park. They have rental cabins, a play ground, boat launches, tent camping area and waterfront park. Cabins for Rent at Harmon Creek Marina ~ Copyright Joni Staples

Currently Texas is experiencing a record drought and the creek is down too low for Lake Livingston access. This is putting a damper on all of the local marina’s business. Please remember, that camping and exploring the creek and lake beds for arrowheads and other treasures are still great family friendly activities ~ especially in the Fall!

This marina sounds like it would be a great place to escape for a long weekend, or a fall vacation. Hope the water level goes back to normal soon, but if it doesn't, hunting for treasures in the creek bed sounds like fun! Where's my metal detector?
