Fall is here, this isn’t the time to relax and forget about your home

Fall is here, this isn’t the time to relax and forget about your home. The fact is, this is the time to watch your home in Oregon the most. Many people have been working on their houses all summer long to make them look beautiful and I do say they have to look amazing.

Beaverton Oregon Real Estate (http://www.LivingBeaverton.com)

But, what often happens as the weather starts to change and the colder days and rains arrive, some people get relaxed and forget about their home. To be honest this is the time you need to pay the most attention to your home!

You see when fall arrives, this is the time the moss really starts to grow on the roofs here in Oregon. Moss can be very damaging to a roof and take years off of its life. But, there is another thing that fall brings and that is the rain and usually lots of it here in Oregon.

With rain, comes possible leaks in your roof and if you aren’t paying attention and just lying around relaxing you could easily have thousands of dollars damage done to your home before you even know something is wrong. So, though it seems like the perfect time to curl up next to a fire and relax, it is actually the time you should pay the most attention to your home.

If  you want further advice on your home or are looking to buy or sell in the near future, give the Friendly Home Team a call, we would love to help.

Todd, that pup seems to have the right idea. I've been working and having work done on the outside all summer and it shines right now, just in time for the snow

Hi todd: What a great reminder for the homeowner. How in the world did you get the dog to stay still while you take the picture.

Todd, I have seen what moss can do to a home and it is not a pretty sight at all.  Love the photo!  It looks just like my Mom's dog, Kody!

Fall is the time to get things ready for the winter.  I know folks all over my neighborhood are working on their fall projects and trying to complete them before it's time to rake up all the leaves.

Todd - The puppy is too cute!  I agree that water can be a big issue that people should watch for with the rain.

Love your picture!! And,yes, fall home maintenance season is upon us. We need to get our gutters cleaned out but it's an exercise in futility until the big maple behind our house finishes dropping it's leaves...

Even in Los Angeles, home owners are preparing for the winter months.  When the rain comes, it comes with a vengence.  If the homeowner has a leak, they will put blue tarp on the roof and wait for the moment to hire a roofer to investigate and repair the leak.  Sometimes that blue tarp is a permanent fix for them, especially when they do not have money for the repairs.

I love the photo!  Thank you and have a great weekend.

Todd:

That dog is so sweet looking.  The dog has the right idea, sleeping in fallen leaves is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Todd, great photo!  That puppy sure looks like he's taken care of the moss problem on the rooftop of his doggie house and can relax!  Have a great Sunday!

I'm seen many underwriters stop a loan based on moss on roofs here. I think the reason they do that is because they know a homeowner if not required to do it, won't remove it.

Hello Todd,

I love the photo of the dog, he looks so comfortable and warm.   I too love fall, but don't like the winter months just around the corner. Especially here in Seacoast NH!
