A Word About The Upcoming 2012 Election From - JFK

By

Sometimes I'm in awe or utterly amazed when I read quotes from our forefathers or historical figures I admire.

  • I've always been a big fan of John F Kennedy.  Tonight I was scrolling through some of his quotes.  I found he had a typical dry New England sense of humor.

"Do you realize the responsibility I carry? I'm the only person standing between Richard Nixon and the White House."
John F. Kennedy

  • JFK believed in in our freedoms and our liberty.  He was not boastful about our resolve, but stated it fairly simply.

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty."
John F. Kennedy

  • One quote caught my eye tonight as we sit and debate who will oppose the current President.

I'm not always the most articulate person in the world.  I've been trying to say this as we kick around Cain, Romney, Perry and the rest.  Perhaps JFK saw our future much clearer then we realize.

John F Kennedy

"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer.

Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future."

John F. Kennedy

And we should remember It IS the Congress that makes and passes law, approves budgets NOT the President. So we must remember that the President is but one member of the government and is no more important than anyone else. We have a line of succession - VP, Speaker of the House, Secretary of State and so on.

JFK was certainly a President that exuded leadership.

Doug,  I look to the President to bring together the factions and hammer out a solution with the best interests of the people in mind.  Regardless of Congress the President still holds the veto power.  The follow up vote to get past the veto is much higher.

I think the message I was trying to get across - let's stop wasting time with the blame game.  Find the best leader and move forward to securing our future.

Nice Blog, Bonnie.

The "Blame Game" will not solve our problems.   Let's assess the challenge, and tackle it head on.

Fred,  If we could put aside party ideology.  You're for the little guy and this one is for the big guy, and just focus on what has to be done to get the train back on the track.

The day after 9/11 we put aside all of our differences - we were Americans united.  We need to do that again and stop bashing who did what in which administration.  Get the job done and debate it later.

Thank You Nick for the feature.  The quote just hit me between the eyes last night.  No matter what party the "best" person for America comes from, we have to be willing to elect them.  We have to be far thinking enough to realize this two party system just draws a line in the sand and creates it's own divide between us.

JFK was a brilliant man.  Would love to see another true leader in the White House now.  We need one badly.

And if my history is correct, JFK advocated for lower taxes, too!

Rob,  As Bonnie Tyler said "I Need A Hero".  I believe JFK was the last President who was not swayed by the Puppetmasters.  That's why he was killed

Virginia,  JFK felt the government did not belong in the lives of ordinary citizens.  He advocated for a strong military however he was willing to negotiate peace behind the scenes.  That is another factor that got him killed.  He was viewed by the military as weak and a coward.  He was negotiating through China a peace in VietNam prior to his assassination. He had already negotiated with Russia over the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He was not weak nor was he a coward.  He did not want to shed American blood unless it was absolutely necessary.

Awesome Blog.  I told you JFK was, as a Poly Sci major, about the only character I found to be so profoundly entertaining and brilliant he bordered on mesmerizing.
