~ SLIGO CREEK IN SILVER SPRING, MD ~

Sligo Creek Park or Sligo Creek Watershed is an urban oasis - running from the Wheaton Regional Park almost through the heart of Silver Spring, MD into Takoma Park. It features miles of bike and walking trails, play-grounds, a golf course and, of course, the Sligo Creek. A miniature train, carousel, adventure play-ground and Brookside Garden & Nature Center can be found at Wheaton Regional Park.

The Friends of Sligo Creek have been leading the effort to "restore to health the water quality, natural habitat, and ecological well-being of the Sligo Creek watershed" and to make it a safe haven for the many communities along the park. You can do your part, too, when visiting the Sligo Creek watershed - don't litter please and pick up after your pets!

Sligo Creek Park did not really present me with a multitude of fall foliage photo ops (maybe next time) and was still very much green (this weekend). It was a picture-perfect day nonetheless!
