Paris Haute Couture Meets Vancouver Home Staging
When I was in Paris recently... one of my favourite past times was keeping a keen eye out for the latest in clothing fashion. Whether through observing well dressed Parisians rushing off to work in their 4" stilettos on cobbled streets, or getting a glimpse of the latest scarf or purse as it rushed by, it was evident that Paris Haute Couture is alive and well, and living in Paris!
This window display in a clothing store in Paris certainly caught my eye. I love the combination of the colour red with the leopard print fabric. There's something very eye-catching and vibrant about this combination. Since returning to Vancouver, I've actually seen leopard print everywhere, so this mode has definitely made it across the pond.

As a Vancouver Home Stager, I look for inspiration everywhere. I decided to take the leopard/red combination I'd seen in Paris, and apply it to a living room we recently staged. If this interesting combination caught my eye in Paris, certainly it would have the same results in a staged home, and would catch a potential home buyer's eye, creating a memorable impression. Here are a few before & after photos:

Grab home buyers' attention with exciting, memorable designs. Property styling works when selling your home!

Kathy B - Merci! Wouldn't it be fun to do a whole series of stages inspired by fashion. Hmmmm.
Kathy N - Thanks so much for loving the design - and a great big Thank You for the Feature in the Staging Before and After Pictures Group.
Birgit - I didn't see the design star challenge this year - did they base their design on fashion? I've seen this done in decorating magazines and always find it a great jumping off point.
HI Sally, when I come across leopard print in a home I immediately remove it. Seems I have been inspired by you once again to rethink my home styling efforts. You have deifinitely created a memorable home for buyers. If buyers are looking at several homes, yours will certainly stand out.
Sally, does leopard print ever go out of style. It seems a lot of ladies really like that look.
Michelle - I know what you mean. There's leopard, and then there's leopard... I think using a "dash" of leopard, and combining it with the red made it work.
Malcolm - I think leopard is a classic, timeless print. There's a danger that it can be overdone. Leopard is definitely all the rage right now.
Every outfit and room can use a touch of the animal print. The trick is to not over do it (like on TV's "Jerseylicious")! You've done it just right! C'est magnifique!
Julie - I so agree. Less is definitely more in this case. Merci infiniment!
Aside from the fact that I'm jealous of anyone who gets to go to Paris : ) I love a nice pop of red in a room and you've done a great job of doing that. Red can get overpowering pretty quickly...but what you did was just right! Good job!
Carol - Ha ha - hate to rub it in, but Paris really was fabulous! I couldn't resist putting those racey red chairs in the living room. Everything was so pale yellow and blah before - it needed a shot of something! Thanks!
Sally, I try to stay away from animal prints but you showed very nice way of incorporating them into the room or outfit. Very elegant.
Anna - You know, I had such fun with this leopard print, that I just may break out all together and play with zebra next! Watch out, staging world!
Hi Sally, I have seen a lot of leopard and zebra print pillows lately. Seems this is the current rage. Love what you've done, and the red chairs really add the pop to the room. Very lovely arrangement and contemporary touches!
Michelle - Well guess what I just found out today? This home was listed last week and just sold on the weekend! I bet it was the leopard print that did it!
Very fun design and congrats on the quick sale!!!
David - Thanks so much! Can't believe I'll be de-staging so soon!
Sally - I LOVE leopard. That window display was great inspiration. Au revoir mon ami.
Marianne - Ooooh, I just knew you were a leopard girl! A bientot, mon amie!
How fun and lucky you Sally, going to Paris! It's really cool to see how clothing fashions make their way to home fashions. Spot on job of making that leap!
Judy - Ha ha - very funny - "spot on"!!! There's definitely a strong link between clothing and home fashions.
Sally love the fashion/staging combo. Fabulous photos and well done stage job. Lucky for you to hit Paris...that is my destination for 2012!
Wendy - Now you're the lucky one, heading to Paris in 2012! I want to go again!!!
