Yolie Marie and I just got carded for Paranormal Activity 3... Seriously (LOL)
I'm hanging out with my gal pals Nydia and yoli when I ask Nydia to do me a favor and drive me over to my fave Starbucks so I can have dinner and work on my NaNoWriMo project. There's a whole crew going out tonight to the midnight showing of Paranormal Activity 3 so we figured if I tagged along for the ticket buy (Chris already had his two, Yolie was snagging eleven) then on the way back to Briarwood from Forest Hills the girls would drop me in Kew Gardens.
Cool. I'm down with that. Nydia drives and Yolie and I hop out at a red light to cut through traffic and get on line. I know I like to backpack around NYC with my laptop but I didn't think it made me look like a high school kid (LOL). Chick behind the glass tilts her chin down to look disapprovingly over her glasses at Yolie Marie and I as if she wasn't going to let us in the theater. Yolie is a gorgeous young adult in college with a job who drives, so I'm watching this woman treat her like a kid cutting class and card her with a bit of amusement. She decides since my gal pal isn't 21 she can't buy the tickets. I'm thinking, WTF? You have to be 18 to watch a rated R movie. I hop into the conversation to help buy the tickets. I'm 46. Chicka looks me up and down then cards me (LOL).
A wee bit cranky, I slap my shield and retired law enforcement government ID against the window because we're getting those tickets and not leaving without them. Chicka lets Yolie buy the tickets after taking her drivers license then Chicka lectures me that I have to be there for the other ten people or she is not letting any of them in... Even though they are all over 18 and work for a living... Even though they all have ID... Even though they are total complete strangers and she has no idea who the f*ck any of them are (sigh).
Too bad she didn't know I was blogging about the movie tonight (LOL). Question: What ever happened to curteous service with a smile?
