Just "Do Good Anyway"...Mother Teresa
If you are into only yourself, then skip this writing, however, if you want to make a contribution to the change in this world, your time will be well spent, reading the following re-blog 'Just "Do Good Anyway"...Mother Teresa'. I am going to follow this advice, will you????
Just "Do Good Anyway"...Mother Teresa
Recently my life has been going through changes, I have been "cleaning my life closet" so to speak. I have started a new business that is "gaining traction in the rain" and I have had to cut quite a bit out of my time commiments to make room. In that same time period I have been cleaning my social media closet as well. It seems that the social media world has suddenly (or maybe I just wasn't noticing) become a world of me, me, me, self promotion. A world of who's cool, who's not, doing it right, doing it wrong, elitist's, think they are the creme of the crop people. However, I have also been exposed to some awesome, amazing people as well, the names of which will not be mentioned for fear of having the social media police accuse me of "name dropping". You know who you are on both ends of that statement. That being said, and being the positive sole that I am, I am going to focus on the good and positive aspects and members of the social media world. Which brings me to a thought I have had for some time, how would Mother Teresa have utilized the social media applications available . Wow, I would have loved to see that in action, talk about being able to make positive, meaningful changes in our world, what a limitless platform she would have had to work with.
This was recently reinforced in my life by a post by a wonderful friend of mine from Utah. Wanda Kubat- Nerdin Realtor extrodinare... and a truly good person as well. Her post gave me the umph I needed to "get it done". The main message from Wanda's post was this:
“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
― Mother Teresa
The point of doing good is for the sake of doing good, correct, not for the recognition or "payback" that one might recieve from said action. I have decided to follow the lead of some of the people that I have SEEN use social media for positive effects, and "Do Good Anyway". Don't get me wrong, I completely understand and realize that social media is in large part a business promotion tool, and I will continue to utilize social media in that vein as well, all I am saying is that I am going to work much harder on adding more of the Social, and the positive in my social media world. I have started a list on my Twitter account "Dogoodanyway" that I would like to invite my friends and colleagues to add your own positive thoughts, idea's, and inspiration to. I know there are many that have inspired me to try and do and be better in regard to my place and usefulness in this world. So for those of you that want to:
Forgive them anyway
Be kind anyway
Be honest anyway
Be happy anyway
Do good anyway
Give your best anyway
Join me, lets talk and share idea's and actually maybe do some good....anyway
