One of the most interesting parts about being in real estate is the opportunity to meet colorful characters and there is no doubt that one of the MOST colorful characters has been Frisco. However, no matter how charming and talented the folks are that you are getting ready to work with in real estate - don’t forget to take care of business first.
Before we had a chance to review the Agency Disclosure, Frisco gave me some technical assistance from the top of my computer screen. Funny thing is, he actually made more sense than most of the “help” calls I’ve been on!
Neither Leslie nor I had ever really interacted with feathered folks much before. Well…ever, if the truth be known. I don’t know which section of the Agency Disclosure Frisco and Leslie were talking about here, but it seems intense. She told me later that Frisco said no other agent had ever reviewed the Working With Real Estate Agents brochure with him before.
Because he paid attention and since he is a “bright” dude, Frisco had no questions about the differences between Seller’s , Buyer’s and Dual Agencies. Because this is such important information, we always do a really thorough job of explaining it. Frisco listened carefully while I tried to point out that an Exclusive Buyer Agency Agreement would be the only way MoonDancer Realty would be willing to work with him while he was deciding upon an appropriate piece of real estate here in the mountains. Sure, he seems like an honest bird and all, but business is business!
It seems like we were all on the same page. Frisco wanted the business taken care of upfront too, that way we could get on with the “fun” part of finding his piece of mountain paradise.
After all, we’ve all worked with colorful characters before and because of their charm neglected to take care of business by getting that Buyers Agency Agreement signed first…
