Communicating in this techy world!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams

Everybody is getting more and more techy. Nowadays, I have to figure out if my customer is a phone person, email person, text person, twitter person or maybe a combination of those and more. I recently had a customer whom would only communicate with me through text messaging. If I called her, emailed her or sent up smoke signal I heard nothing. I am not sure of the stats, but I think for text messaging, 90% are read..and 83% of text messages are answered in the first hour. Compare that to emails...where 90% of emails aren't even opened...Wayne

That seems about right. I love text messaging because you can respond or get info quickly while still going about your day.

I can relate to that Wayne.  I recently worked with a client in her early 20s and I can count on one hand the number of times we talked on the phone, but we texted back and fourth about 20 times a day!  Definitely a generational thing I think.

Sara and Gina,

The biggest dilemma that all this new technology brings...is being able to figure out what kind of person you are dealing with. Responding to them quickly is important. But it might be more important to know that someone finds text messages annoying, or it causes there phone bill to go up...darn Realtor's anyways. I have this problem with some Realtor's I have tried to contact. You call em, no answer and it goes to voice mail. You email them..no reply. You send them a fax...no reply. Text message them and you get an answer....:) On the other hand, i've sent text messages and gotten no response. Geeezzzz all I wanted was some feedback on my listing they just showed. I think I will use flypaper or super glue to hold them there in the house until I get an answer. Hey maybe that's the up and coming new technology...Wayne
