Induction of New Member:
Pete Moriarty presided over the induction of Prerna O'Hara. Prerna is sponsored by Steven Pollack
and will join the Community Service Committee led by Jill Kuli.
Announcements:
Jane McDonald- invited everyone who's interested to a wrap-up meeting about the Fall Festival
following next week's regular meeting- Gross Revenue $52,000; Net $34,000
Tom Grundy- Rotary Foundation Dinner November 19th - Raffle tickets books of 10= $100
which will give you 200 points toward a Paul Harris Award- tickets can be sold to
non-rotarians. 1st Prize- Hawaiian Vacation; 2nd Prize 50 inch HD TV, 3rd Prize

Nagy Ibrahim- Next week's speaker: Assemblyman Don Wagner
Stan Van Den Berg- talked about how the club can earn a Presidential Citation from the
Foundation- each member should donate to the Rotary Foundation- the club needs
to have a $100 per capita total, so give what you can.
Ken Caplin talked about the upcoming Thanksgiving Day Dinner at the Honda Center sponsored
by We Give Thanks- 20,000 dinners will be served and 600-700 Turkeys will be donated
by Smart and Final for the event- volunteers can work two shift in the AM - contact Ken
for more information or to volunteer. It's an amazing experience!!!
Jill Kuli is collecting clothing for women who want to return to the workkplace through Working
Wardrobes. Collections can be made all year long. Contact Jill.
Mike Brunhober spoke about the upcoming trip to Caborca, Mexico February 10-12th
to do Polio Inoculations. Seats are still available on the bus. Contact Mike
Cost is $225 plus hotel fees.
Marianne Koepnick- announced that our Halloweenfest made $368.50 plus $50 for the Marine
Thanksgiving Event.
Steve Lopushinsky announced that he is having an open house tomorrow evening from 7-10 to
see a viewing of the photos he took while on his recent African Bicyle trip .
Food from South Africa and wine will be served. His studio is across from the Main Place
Mall next to McCormick and Schmitt's - Turville Photography
Happy Bucks:
Brad and Lisa Reese visited their daughter who works at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel in Nashville,
Tenn., They also toured the area and rode the Smokey Mountain Railroad.
Tom Grundy- acknowledged Steven Pollack for spreading the word about Rotary and
was happy the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series last week.
Bob Kreisberg updated us on his son Jason's job situation. Jason will take a position on the
Nature Biotech Editorial Board in Manhattan. Bob has a brother who keeps an apartment there
so no problems finding a place to live. Jason is also finishing a paper that will help with future
positions.
Jim Doherty had the first Halloween Trick or Treater visit his home for the first time in 11 years.
He also passed his smog test- well not him personally,but his car.
Paul Hudson is happy to be back, but he and Jane are taking off for Portugal for two weeks.
Bryan Nash- reminded everyone about this Saturday evening's event at the Newport Wine Cave
for the Eddy Nash Foundation. By the way, its a near sell out.
Jim Brodsky attended a Natural Medicine Seminar in Sapporo, Japan and was very impressed with
the scope of the practice in other areas. He then went on a trip to Mexico.
Ed Howard(not the principal) is going of to India to see the Taj Mahal.
Lesslie Giacobbi visited her mom in New York and was impressed with the recent snow storm.
Eric Sense- let JIm Brodsky know that in his recent absence they were having lots of happy hours
at the office.
Steven Pollack welcomed Prerna O'Hara into the club and predicts she will be a great Rotarian.
Dianne Rothi just returned from a two week trip to France.

Speaker: Dr. Ray Cashieri
Chief Medical Officer St. Joseph Hospital
Dr Cashieri is a long time resident of Villa Park and has been affiliated with St Joseph Hospital for the last 34 years. He is triple board certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine and Internal Medicine.
In his current position he is in charge of the 982 physicians that are part of the St. Joseph
Hospital. He stressed that St. Joseph Hospital is all about excellence and has won numerous
national recognitions for its delivery of service in multiple areas. St. Joseph is linking its three hospitals- St. Joes,St Jude and Mission to better coordinate services. Each hospital has a particular strengnth and focus. Hoag Hospital may also hook up with the system.
Dr Cashieri gave an interesting and informative talk. He alluded to some of the changes that
may be coming down the pike with the new health care bill.
