Lead Paint Problems, EPA website, Know before you Renovate

I would think most folks just go ahead and order repairs or upgrades to doors, windows and such without learning all the details about lead paint hazards, and the rules and regulations of the EPA, not to mention the fines for not following the rules.

Below find the EPA website for what you need to know when planning work to your home that was built before 1978 when lead  was still in paint.

Ask your contractor about all the rules that you must follow to be safe and free from any fines that might be imposed on you should you fail to comply with every little detail.

It's a good law, but like anything the feds do, it can be a real pain to work with.  I just wish is could be a little simpler.  This site just about covers all you need to know.

Amazing how many of these old structures are still out there! People working on these structures better be trained or someone could get fined!

Good morning Gary;  Hope you are doing OK in the Sunshine State.  My home was built in 1955, don't consider it "OLD", but I've had many upgrades before the new law.  Looks fairly "new" now.

This is really a tricky topic. This one I deal with, all the time when I purchase homes to flip. Unfortunately most folks that flip, don't pay any attention to this issue.

Ken, this past year saw some big changes in how lead paint is re-mediated. People really need to check this out if they have remodeling to do.
