Occupy The Gorge - Mosier Occupation Nov 4-11, 2011
During the week, I saw several Occupy The Gorge and Occupy Mosier signs throughout Hood River. Saturday morning, I made a special trip to see Occupy Mosier for myself.
Mosier has a reported total population of 430 - not your typical urban center being occupied. And a long way from Wall Street.
It was an overcast, rainy morning with not much activity. A few campers were straightening signs. I told them I was taking pics for our blog. They invited me to have some coffee and join the discussion. With my age, and my Audi parked next to me, I think they were being nice, not expecting me to accept the invitation. They were right; although I would have except for the appointment in 30 minutes.
They did say they were the smallest Occupy movement and proud of it.
Occupy The Gorge/Mosier is different as there is a specific timeframe for it to end. The last day of Occupy Mosier is November 11, 2011.
The Occupy The Gorge web site indicates they were encouraged by Mosier residents to Occupy. Some of the residents also want them to leave. While driving by, I saw a person waving his arms and shouting to the campers. He also left his own sign with his First Amendment rights clearly expressed.
