Gabe and Papa at Taylor CreekWhat am I really Thankful for?  I’m Thankful for wonderful moments spent with those that make our lives special and give us the “Why” in why we do it!

In March we lost our oldest son … a very unhappy event that marked the end to years of struggle with addiction.  While Adam beat the monsters off and on, he was never really quite able to leave drugs and alcohol out of his life.  Tragically, it all ended on March 5th of this year.

It’s been a long long road back for our family.  His twin sister and little brother, his nephew, his dad and me … not a day goes by that we don’t think of him in some way.  Thankfully the sweet memories are beginning to crowd away the hurt and the sadness of the passing of our child, brother, and uncle.

So … I’m thankful for times with our family, times to relax and enjoy just being together and time toGabe Wetzel and Jim valentine at Taylor Creek create special memories like we did last weekend with Gabe our grandson at Taylor Creek in Lake Tahoe, CA.

Taylor Creek is a magical spot where land locked Kokanee salmon spawn each year. The story is interesting and the sites are beautiful.  What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

I am thankful for life.  I have had the good, the bad and the ugly and it is still better than the alternative as far as i know.

Lisa ~ I am happy to read you are finally able to start to remember the good things about your son! I am sure it is not easy and that you miss him terribly. Being thankful for family and enjoying times together is something we should all be thankful for! Terrific entry!
