It's Friday, have you thanked a Veteran today? There are still some events for this weekend celebrating Veteran's Day, and a few other events for you to have some Weekend Fun, Knoxville Style!
As you may have guessed from a previous post, I'm a pretty big fan of the Knoxville Zoo. It's a great place to spend an afternoon (and get some great pictures!). This weekend, the Knoxville Zoo has teamed up with Kroger to offer a FREE weekend! Yes, folks, I wrote that 4-letter word -- FREE. Free parking and free admission on November 12 & 13!
All they ask is that you stop by Kroger and pick up a charitable donation.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by Kroger and pick up a donation for one of the charitable organizations who will be on-site at the zoo during Kroger Free Weekend. Mission of Hope, Young-Williams Animal Center, the Blount County Humane Society and KnoxPAWS are the organizations benefiting from the generosity of Kroger Free Weekend visitors, although a donation is not required for admission to the zoo.
How can you go wrong with a trip to the zoo? Unless its a day out at one of our National Parks. This weekend, in honor of Veterans Day, the National Park Service is waiving their entry fees at all National Parks. Their website is www.nps.gov but as of this writing, the site seems to be down, but do check to find a National Park near you.
Bearden High School Theater Department presents, Pippin, the Musical, Sat. night at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm.
Saturday night at 8 pm, the Knoxville Choral Society presents A Salute to America, at the Tennessee Theater, in celebration of Veteran's Day.
