This past Friday was an awesome day.  It was Veterans' Day, 11-11-11 and the first day of the Fountain Hills Arts and Crafts Festival.

The weather was perfect, low 70s and slightly overcast. Along with seeing all the arts and crafts,  Candice and I indulged in some fry bread with powered sugar (messy, but so good).

As you walk through the various arts and crafts, you see the majestic fountain which is the largest in the U.S.

Fountain Hills is right next to Scottsdale, with a population of around 25,000 people.  Within 15-20 minutes you can be in the heart of Scottsdale. It's a great place to live with awesome views.

Here is a little more on the Fountain Hills festival.  If you haven't been to this event, make a point to go sometime in the future.

Fountain Hills Arts and Crafts Festival

Each November, the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce hosts the Fountain Hills Festival of Arts and Crafts. The event features nearly 500 artists and artisans from around the United States and other countries lining the tree-shaded Avenue of the Fountains. The event attracts an estimated 200,000 visitors from all over the valley who come to appreciate and purchase fine art and enjoy some good food and entertainment.

The artists booths are arranged in rows down Avenue of the Fountains, which is closed for the event.   There is always a view down the rows to see the 330 foot tall plume of water the Fountain emits for fifteen minutes at the start of each hour. You will want to bring comfortable walking shoes since there is a lot of ground to cover with so many exhibits and most visitors also take a walk around the beautiful Fountain Park. Several musicians and musical groups entertain the crowd at various locations throughout the fair.

Some come to see, some to shop, some to relax.  Admission is free, there is plenty of free parking, clean restrooms, and a helpful staff to answer your questions. The event occurs rain or shine, although the latter is more likely. Average weather in Fountain Hills in November is generally a beautiful & sunny 75 degrees. Wheelchairs and Scooters are available for rent. The Chamber asks you to please leave your pets at home.

The Festival is the perfect way to spend a beautiful, sunny November day in Fountain Hills. It’s adjacent to the Fountain Park which has walkways, large grassy areas and of course the world-famous Fountain. Purchase some of the delicious food the vendors sell and enjoy it down by the Fountain. The Fountain is operational from 9am to 9pm at the top of every hour for 15 minutes. And don't forget, the Fountain Hills Festival of Arts and Crafts is the perfect place to shop for holiday gifts!
