You must put The Cider House Café on your list when visiting the North Georgia Blue Ridge MountainsThe Cider House Café is located at 2984 Mobile road only three miles west from the old mountain town of McCaysville Georgia and it's twin city, Copperhill Tennessee.  Just ten minutes from Blue Ridge.

Enjoy real mountain flavor with the home cooked country meals that owners Joe and Mary Jo Dickey serve up.  You can get lunch Monday through Sunday at 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Get a Sunday lunch like the old fashioned Sunday dinners you experienced growing up (the kind my grandmother used to make, oh those were the days!)  Also, dinner is served Thursday through Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Cider House Café adjoins eighteen acres of apple orchards called Mountain View Orchards.  Here you can pick your own apples or choose from those that have already been picked for you.

Mary Jo offers a variety of apples such as:

Shop for unique mountain crafts and old fashioned home made jams and jellies and cider.  Call 706-49-APPLE or 706-492-7753 for more information.

Loved your post, Donna. I feel like I have been there, thanks to you. Can you tell me what Arkansad black apples taste like?  Never had those.  If I'm in the area I would love to stop at the Cider House Cafe.

Bonnie:  Thank you for your interest.  Arkansas Black is sweet and has a cherry cinnamon taste.  The darker the apple the more it taste like cherry.  Each apple listed in my post has a link that includes more information about the respective variety.

Based on the Pics and your content, I get a sense of the warmth and down-to-earth atmosphere of the cafe and the area. And I too remember lunches that were equivalent to dinners.

Derrick:  Ah yes, lunches equivalent to dinner.  Those were the days and my grandmother missed her calling because she certainly could have run a very successful restaurant just on her cooking alone.  The Cider House Cafe takes me back to those days.  It's a little out of the way place but very popular among the people who know about it.

Keith and Robin:  As close as you are, ya'll should make the trip often.  But I know how it is because I can't find the time to get down your way either and my son lives there!  Thanks for your comment.

Karen:  If hubby won't come, then you just come right on and I'll put out the welcome mat for you!

Good Morning "My" Donna...

I have been sitting here reading all of your Localism posts. They just keep getting better and better :)

This particular post made me hungry. I guess that means I should stop the blogging and go eat something :)

I have a craving for apple pie now :)

TLW...ROAR!

Hi TLW:  So glad you stopped by and I wish I could send you an apple pie through the Active Rain channel.  Thank you much for reading my posts.  I really appreciate your encouragement although you are too kind, but it means quite a lot coming from such a pro.  When I figure out how to get a pie through to you, I'll send it right away.

Here ya' go TLW - it's the best I can do right now  :-)
