Speechless Sundays

Who needs fancy electronic toys?

The iPad2, DS, Wii . . these may be the fancy electronics all the kids wanted this year, but I'm here to tell you with just a little imagination and some cardboard, kids are ready to launch themselves in to space.

Though this rocket may take up a huge piece of real estate, it is something the kids have been playing with on an off all day.  It's great for their imagination and artistry as it allows them to color the entire rocket eventually

Christine,

Sometimes we get so caught up in providing the latest and greatest but all our loved ones really need  is love, friendship and the ability to use imagination.   Merry Christmas.

We always loved playing with the big empty boxes. The box could be anything we wanted.

Hi Christine - Last year, our granddaughter, who was two at the time, spent more time with the boxes and wrapping paper than the presents. This year, though, she got it figured out - and even though she's amazing with the electronics, she's mostly into being a Disney Princess, which is mostly a lot of imagination assisted by a few overpriced props. Happy little girl!

I love that picture.  It reminds me of one Christmas when my kids were little.  In spite of all the expensive and elaborate presents they received, what they seemed to spend the most time with was a big box that their grandmother had shipped things in.  They used some poster paint that had been given them by Santa, and built and painted up a fort out of that box.  It was played with out on the back patio, for hours.

I have to say the best toys are the box, the stick, mud and a frog and all those can't really come in a box.

They are really for the big take off!  So cute, I wish we could be that content with a big cardboard box.
