 Jigsaw Puzzle

I thought that for those buying a house, selling a house, or for that matter a REALTOR running their business, you enter the process without all the answers. You have to FIGURE IT OUT. As a fan of Sudoku, I think of it as solving a puzzle. For the buyer, which is the right house? For the seller, how will I ever unload this place? For a REALTOR, it could be how do I best serve my clients and run a profitable business while maintaining balance in my life?

Much like a jigsaw puzzle it is a matter of putting the pieces together. There are answers. The pieces can be put together to make the solution. As REALTORs one of our key traits is problem solver. Luckily for buyers and sellers if they work with REALTORs they have at their disposal a tremendous resource. REALTORs know the process of what it takes to get it done.

They have alliances with lenders, handymen, marketing companies, stagers, inspectors, title companies, and other realtors not to mention their education and experience.

Put the pieces together. Get together with a PUZZLE MASTER.

Gary,

This is so true... it is like a puzzle.... I like to think of my business as "problem solving" ... I am a professional problem solver most of the time!

Is there some "trick" to making a photo look like a puzzle? ... please advise! Thanks!

I like to think of us as a project coordinator.  We put the parties together and help with the paperwork.

Gary, thats a great visual, not just the picture!!  I also think my job as a solution for people.  I can help them solve their problem be it selling a home or purchasing, its what I do  :)   its what all realtors do!!..  MAYBE NAR need to use this blog as a commercial and tell the public we are problem solvers and solution masters!!

Jan, the Taj Mahal with the jigsaw cutout was just a jpg image. I'm sure on the web there is some way to take any picture and overlay a puzzle on top of it.  I like the concept of project coordinator or problem solver as one of an agent's chief roles. It really is what we're paid to do.

Gary, I guess sometimes I'm the guy that finds the missing piece on the floor under the couch.  Don't you hate it when you've been looking for a piece for a long time and somebody just comes by and plunk.  There it is! Just goes to show we need each other to get the job done.

I'm always amazed when I find the next puzzle piece in solving a problem or moving a process forward. I'm like you Bill, sometimes someone else provides it to me. Then I have one of those ah hah moments. I think to myself, "Why didn't i think of that?" The collective wisdom of the many is very powerful. That's why I think if you keep reading active blogs you'll be way ahead of everyone else.

Gary--Good analogy for real estate...And like puzzles the pieces cannot be forced. If things were meant to be, they always fall into place.

Gary - What a great analogy!  Excellent way to show the true value a professional can bring the home buying and selling process.  Some puzzles are harder than others to put together.  Specifically, when one party to the transaction isn't putting all their "pieces" on the table, it gets considerably harder to solve!  Sorry, I had to add that. It seems to apply to some of the cases I'm seeing lately.

When pieces are missing that's an all together different problem. Maybe Realtors work magic and can put the puzzle together "without" all the pieces. I do know sometimes you have to solve a problem without all the information at hand. You just do the best with what you have. But hiding pieces from you Irene, that's something else!

It's a similar concept, but I describe myself as a Short Sale sherpa!  I help clients by guiding them along the path to the short sale success that sits at the top of the real estate mountain. :)

Whether it's a short sale Steve or a puzzle, we somehow have to put it all together to get to the closing table. Now if the clients will just listen. Some pieces go on the border, others in the middle. Like staging a house may be necessary, or de-cluttering it by moving items to storage will help sell it faster.

Gary, life is one big puzzle.  I often think that we don't always see the big picture.  I love your analogy.  It helps to have someone help you put the puzzle pieces together.
