Recently I've had two of my blog posts copied and re-posted here on Active Rain in the past two weeks. I've been able to get both offenders to take down the posts, but it sure does make me wonder what people are thinking. Richie Naggar's post brings up many great points abouth this as well as his own story.
Get educated on how to use or quote someones else's work before you do it. Next, apply common sense and that should tell you something. After that listen to your conscience like Jiminy Cricket told Pinocchio to do and if that fails, well you may just get a visit from the Mother of all copy right protectors...LENN HARLEY

I currently don't have this problem. I used to have this problem and I am not ashamed to share it either. I remember seeing an article many years ago (many, mind you) that I liked. I like it so much I decided to put it on a web site. Someone (a friend) saw that and said, you better get permission to do that.
YEA YEA ...MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
I laughed (I was arrogant back then), and said, this guy will never know. I mean come on, out of the hundreds of millions of web sites, blogs, posts, and comments, how could he possibly find out? HE DID...yikes!
SNAIL MAIL WAKE-UP CALL
I get a formal letter by snail mail no less introducing the whole violation thing very professionally done. The guy was a professor and let me have it academically, legally, civilly, morally and other wise. I had to get into it with a professor..can you believe it? I removed it so quick I got finger burn from the keyboard when I did...I learned my lesson....Whew!
UNIVERSAL PAUSE FEATURE...DO NOT OVER RIDE
It is tempting to do these things. It is easy to do it too. That should trigger your common sense. A pause feature to be found in everyone should kick in. Don't ignore this. I am reminded of another yet story..
COLLEGE TEACHES US MANY THINGS SOME NOT ON THE CURRICULUM
I am in college in 2005 finishing a degree. You do nothing but essays in every class on every subject and you got to get good at it. I excelled and had no problem putting together subject matter whether it be for 1 -25 pages. However, the majority of the young kids in college neither have the time, inclination, patience or "want to" to do the work and succumb to copying writing others and submitting it. ...It creates more party time

I will never forget the announcement made in class one day by the Professor. He stated that the college now uses a software that can identify copy infringement. the whole class shuddered, stuttered, and nearly fainted. There was murmuring, people leaping out of their seats and a sobering thickness in the air.
BEEN THERE...NOT PROUD OF THAT
Me, I was laughing. Only because I got my comeuppance earlier on and corrected it. Now, it was the turn of hundreds (perhaps thousands) of college students to learn.... to learn and do things correctly. Then, you wont have to do them again or worry about a thing...

Here on ActiveRain, there are those risk takers that still believe they wont get caught. As Lenn Harley is fond of often stating HA! Let me remind you that a HA from this lady means something and you don't want her HA coming after you. She dines on people regularly who do this...
