JOY AND SORROW

What is it about death and sorrow that draws us closer to each other?  My church had a"BringAFriend to Church Day" yesterday, so our attendance  swelled by about a third.

There was a festive air and members were cordial in greeting and making visitors feel welcome.  Some may have come only for the turkey dinner that would follow the service, but that's ok too.

After a great Praise and Worship time, our pastor got up. The mood was quickly altered to one of shock and sorrow when he announced the death of one of our member's sons.  Death by motorcycle - four weeks after his return from Iraq.

Everyone present could identify with the heart-pain of losing a child - a young father at the beginning of his adult life!  It never seems right that a child should die before the parent does.  As our pastor rightly pointed out - this was NOT an Act of God.   Do not speak to this mourning mom and dad about it being "God's Will"

This was part of the evil one's plan to "seek, kill and destroy".

Please remember Kelly and her family in your prayers. She is a Prayer Warrior.  This was a direct attack from satan.

Kelly, My sympathy and prayers to Kelly and her family. But I have a problem with your Pastor KNOWING  this was not Gods will. Unless God spoke to him that day or he can find scripture to back up his statement I would challenge him on that statement.

Hugh:

Thanks for your comments and prayers for Kelly.

Yes, I believe that my pastor does hear from God on a continual basis through the Holy Spirit.  He has scripture to back my statement up.  I prefer not to get into a scripture battle in this forum however, as we both probably know, you can find scripture to back up all sorts of beliefs.

Sorry if my post offended you.  Be blessed.

Joan- How sad that he went through combat only to come back and lose his life. I will be praying that God give Kelly strength through this difficult period.

Joan,

Thanks for posting this...I will feature it as a prayer request....

Sons and daughters should NOT die before the parents.... I agree....

What were the circumstances surrounding the accident...was he hit by a drunk driver?

Joan, I always think death reminds us how short life is and that our time is so very precious. Kelly and her family are in my prayers.
