Yahoo or not to Yahoo at local level?

Like most people out there I "Google" for information. Google maps or local search shows pretty good results for "relevant local business". I tried Yahoo local today. I was just looking for "real estate" in "Abbotsford BC".  Here is what I get as results, not even one real estate company is these results. Not even in the paid ads (sponsor results). What are they thinking. Why don't they let people enter their business info like Google does? If someone is looking for real estate and find cleaning services in top 3 results, are they going to use the same search engine again. No wonder more people don't "Yahoo" for search. Google is not perfect, but its the only engine that rocks... Here is what I get for the same search on Google maps.

Do you "Yahoo" for local search?

It appears Yahoo Local gets all its data from YellowPages.  That explains why it's not showing most area firms.  A regular Yahoo search for a keyword area produces much better results.

There are many other search engines.  One of my friends loves dogpile.com

I wonder how Google Maps decided to prioritize their listing of local real estate businesses.  The entries on the first page appear to be mostly firms that rarely, if ever, list or sell anything.

I'm not a real fan of Yahoo myself.  If it looks good to you-try it.

The Yahoo Local Canada Beta is not the regular Yahoo search site.

Raj, I'm inviting you to join an active|rain group of your fellow Canadian REALTORS® , the Canada, eh group - http://activerain.com/groups/Canada.

And if you like include any of your posts with a Canadian angle by also posting them to the group.
(no properties for sale please, listings should be posted to Localism.com)

When I login to ActiveRain.com I always check the Canada, eh group first to read the Canadian posts because Canadian bloggers are so much easier to find on the group home page.

I'm looking forward to reading your posts there.
